Carrying a
load directly upwind
(Using only the power of the
wind)
Using the experimental
direct upwind model. Tests were made to see if such a craft could carry
weights directly upwind. Some said that kind of progress directly
against the wind was impossible and the idea of carrying weights was out
of the question.
Tests were made with the 18 inch windmill rotary test model. A load of a brick with a weight of 2 kgs was easily carried even in light winds and a further verification test used a 2ltr bottle of soft drink to demonstrate that the weight was genuine. |
